It is rooted in psychological, biological, and social processes and varies in intensity and direction across individuals and situations. Motivation encompasses both intrinsic (internal) and extrinsic (external) factors, which interact and influence each other.  In focusing on becoming more motivated, previous belief systems and social habits need to be unpacked and examined to eliminate the possible hold they may have on being MOTIVATED.

Factors such as autonomy, competence, and relatedness play vital roles in fostering intrinsic motivation.  Your individual belief systems and level of self-esteem set the foundation for the internal rewards that drive motivated actions.

(3)  Extrinsic Motivation

Extrinsic motivation involves engaging in activities to attain external rewards or avoid punishment. It includes factors like recognition, monetary incentives, and praise. While extrinsic motivation can be effective in initiating behavior, its long-term sustainability may be limited without the presence of intrinsic motivation.  You need a certain level of self-esteem and self-love to sustain a motivated path.

Embracing a growth mindset, as proposed by Carol Dweck, a Psychologist in United States, fosters motivation by emphasizing the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed through effort, practice, and learning from mistakes. A growth mindset encourages resilience, curiosity, and a willingness to take on challenges.  The more you become open to new challenges and the realization of discovering the unlimited aspects of goals, the more action-oriented you become.  You bring the JOY into the equation and that is always a plus!!
